When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet. Psalm 8:3-6
It is clear the devil is determined to annihilate God’s creation. Since the beginning of time, the devil has launched a destabilizing campaign against creation that has caused much destruction. Thus, nature has been in a state of unrest with natural disasters and manmade pollution wreaking havoc on the planet. The devil has unleashed his fiercest attack against humanity because we are God’s most significant creation.
In truth, the devil and all the angelic hosts are perplexed about the depth of God’s love for humanity. They cannot understand why God has lavished so much love upon humanity. We are the only being that is created in the image of God. Not even the angels can make that claim. We are the only being for which the Son of God has died to redeem.
The very thought that the God of the universe would die for The wretched creation that disobeyed Him is scandalous. What is even more shocking is the fact that God would destine humanity to inherit His kingdom and reign with Him in eternity. It is no wonder the devil is resolute in his hatred for humanity. The devil wants to humiliate humanity so he can rob us of our eternal inheritance and prove to God that he made a mistake by choosing humanity over him.
The cosmic battle that is waging in the heavenly realm and on earth is fundamentally about the devil proving to God that he is better than humanity. He is incensed about the idea that God would love us so much that he breathed himself into us. After all, the devil does not have the breadth of God in him. Neither do the angels in heaven. That is the biggest cause of his jealousy. Moreover, the devil is bitter that we do not even realize the glory that is in us. He relishes the opportunity to confuse us about our true identity and rob us of our divine heritage.
As I watch human behavior and our attitude toward our maker, I am also puzzled about the fact that God created us a little lower than the angels and has made us rulers over the works of His hands. I don’t understand why Jesus suffered, bled, and died for my sins. That is what one author calls Divine Conspiracy.
Well, some things are not meant to be understood. For we only know in part what we shall know in full on the day of the Lord. In the meantime, I am glad the Almighty conspired to make us His chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession (1 Peter 2:9). I am so glad that God predestined us to be conformed to the image of His Son (Romans 8:29). The Almighty assures us that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ.
Despite the devil’s contemptuous hatred for God’s creation, we have the power to resist and defeat him in the name of Jesus. Part of God’s intrigue is the fact that we can neutralize spiritual powers and principalities in the name of Jesus. God made sure that we are more than conquerors through him who loved us (Romans 8:31.) He has ordered his angels to guard and protect us. The Almighty has conspired to establish us to a position that is even higher than what Lucifer used to occupy. We are destined to be joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17).
What does all of that mean to you, practically? It means you are not a cosmic accident. God purposely and intentionally created you. He has given you power and authority and destined you to rule over powers and principalities in the heavens. Moreover, that means your DNA is divine. You have godly blood flowing through your veins. You can speak things that are not as though they were. You can even move mountains, raise the dead, heal diseases, and walk on water. Life and death are in the power of your tongue. The sooner you and I accept who we and whose we are in Christ Jesus, the quicker we can begin to live as God’s special possession.
Prayer- Thank you Lord for creating us so wonderfully. Please help us to walk in the fullness of your glory and not this sinful world to rob us of our divine inheritance through Christ Jesus.
