Whenever I travel by plane, I like to sit by the window so I can look down and marvel at the world that God created. The view from an airplane reminds me of how amazing God is and why we should trust and worship him. From above, human beings are not visible with the human eye. Even the whole planet earth becomes minuscule the further one ventures into space. Yet God knows each individual by name. He knows our unique stories. He remembers the way he created each of us. God is mindful of our temperament, our strengths, and our weaknesses. Even the hairs on our head are all numbered. Wow!
Today’s text reminds me of how precious we are to our Father in heaven. The text is an affirmation of God’s commitment to each individual. God never loses sight of each one of his creations. He is fully vested in our wellbeing and knows us by name.
God offers mercy when we go astray (Lamentations 3:22). He provides healing when we are sick (James 5:15). The Lord is our shelter in times of storms (Psalm 46:1). He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). His strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
In my humanity, I often wonder how God can meet our unique needs while inviting each of us into a relationship of loving union with him. Does God not see our wickedness from above? Have we not done enough wretched things to turn him off and trigger his wrath? Yet we continue to benefit from his grace. So much so that he sent Jesus Christ to save us from eternal damnation.
God is simply amazing! During my prayer walk this morning, my soul started to serenade God with the hymn, “There Is None Like You.” As I thought about his amazing love for me, I began to sing:
There is none like You,
No one else can touch my heart like You do,
I can search for all eternity Lord
And find, there is none like You.
Your mercy flows like a river so wide,
And healing comes from Your hand.
Suffering children are safe in Your arms,
There is none like You.
I am not sure the human mind can truly comprehend the greatness of God. Human beings do not have the mental capacity and the spiritual intelligence to fully grasp just how amazing God is. Though we know it is God, who sustains life on earth and ensures our souls will live to eternity when we die, we seldom demonstrate our gratitude appropriately.
For most people, out of sight is out of mind. However, we are never out of God’s sight. Each of us is permanently engraved in the mind of God. Even when we do not see him, he is working things out for us. His faithfulness is amazing, and his unfailing love too. God’s power is amazing, as well as his authority over all rulers and authorities on earth and in the heavenly realm. The next time you inhale oxygen into your lung, just say thank you, God, for your amazing love.
Prayer- Blessed Lord, send forth messengers to remind the world about your amazing love for them so they can enter into a relationship of loving union with you.
